: So I'm interested in photography and I bought a used minolta x-700 for a class I'm currently taking. It seems to be a good camera even thogh it has a little bit of mass to it. I paid $219.00 for it. Did I get ripped off? I also was wondering what kind of a light meter this thing has. E-mail me if you have any idea morningglory_@hotmail.com. or lilies@eden.rutgers.edu
Caroline:
The direct link in the Minolta site to your camera specs is:

Your camera (body only) at Abbey Camera sells for $265

Is up to you to say if you paid much or not. However, since I
figure your camera came with a reasonable lens my impression is
that you are not so clueless.
You made your first good deal. Congratulations. And don't let
anybody spoil it. (There is always a party pooper or someone
saying "You should have told me before ......"
Your comment that "it has little bit of mass to it"
tells me that either you come from a Point & Shoot experience
or you never handled a camera. I have good and bad news for you:
This is your chance to develop the muscles you will need for pro
work. If one day you get a chance to craddle a Nikon F4s or a
Nikon F5, even with a small lens, you will remember me.
If you allow me, photography is never to be taken
"light".
Have a great time.
