In Reply to: canon speedlite 188a for eos 630? posted by David Melkie on October 11, 1999 at 13:24:39:

: I have a canon eos 630 which came out after the T series and before the elans, the 300ez and 540ez are the recommended units, but I have recently picked up a canon 188a speedlite and would like to use it. does anyone know if it will work in any program modes with the 630? can I find a download manual for the 188a speedlite? I have also misplaced part 1 of my eos 630 camera manual which probably has the general flash unit info in it. This is the model without the inbuilt flash. Can anyone suggest how to operate the 188a

David:
My semi-educated guess is that to be able to use the electronics on an E camera is that that you would need an E flash.
Unfortunately the Canon site only shows new models for both cameras and speedlights.
They have a nice 200EX speedlight "guaranted to work on any EOS camera".
So, it is hard to say without the manual.
From time to time a caritative soul put up on the net a manual to be shared, but it seldom occurs.
