In Reply to: adapt threaded lens to bayonet mount camera? posted by Michael Kingery on July 25, 1999 at 19:26:33:
: I have a Minolta X-7A SLR camera with a bayonet lens mount
and wish to use a threaded mount Albinar lens. Could someone
: tell me where I can find an adapter ring to accomplish this.
Thank You.
Hello Mike,
Some people are interested in Albinar products which haven't been available for several years since the sole importer, Jack Gershon, died and his company closed its doors.
The big question is which camera the screw mount lens was
originally designed to fit? Bowers sells body to screw adapters
which adapts some bayonet mount cameras to take original Pentax
screw mount lenses. For Minolta they have adapters for the
Minolta MD line and the Maxxum line. http://www.bowerusa.com/

Otherwise you will have to get on the phone and call places like
Porters Camera Store in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Sending e-mail for a
$20 item is unlikely to produce results. The thing you have to
understand is that Albinar lenses are most famous for one thing -
being inexpensive and on the low-end of lenses. For you to find
an adapter which will work, realize it wasn't made for Albinar
but for the camera that Albinar lens was originally designed to
fit.
