: My Father gave me his two prized possessions last Fall when he was dying - both were Nikons. He never had a chance to tell me how to use them. I am sitting here with a camera that says FE 4285207. I was relly proud that I got the autowinder off and changed the batteries... But I can't figure out how to open it to load film. I tried the Nikon WebSite, hoping they would have basic info - NOT. Does anyone have one of these?? Can you tell me how to open it to load film?

Judi,

please don't try opening the camera by just pulling the rewind knob up. The Nikon FE has a safety against accidental opening it that way, so just janking it upwards might result in damage to the body. If you look at the rewind knob, you will see underneath it (on the ASA scale) a small lever that you can push downwards. In order to open the body, you have to pull up the rewindknob upwards and SIMULTANEOUSLY push the small lever down. Please take care that if you ask this kind of question, you get an answer who has the camera you ask information about, as an answer of a general nature you had previously had might lead you towards damaging your equipment

For more info on your camera and Nikon Equipment I recommend you look at the following URL's

If you have any further practical questions on the FE, don't hesitate to email me
