I read with interest your page on discontinued
(roll)film sizes--a heartfelt topic that has left me in
a wistful quest of late. The sole remaining North
American source of production--i.e. cutting, spooling
and packaging--for any of these films that I have been
aware of is Dick Haviland's Film For Classics in New
York. Unfortunately, as Dick himself explained to me a
few months ago, he has had to quit spooling all of the
"wider-than-120" sizes, since his source for backing
paper for the wider sizes (116/616, 122, etc.) ran out.
This means that Film for Classics is still an excellent
source for 127, 620 and 828--the only rollfilm sizes
that Dick currently spools (in addition to some sheet
film sizes)--and Dick provides processing services for
these three sizes as well.
I checked with Central Camera in Chicago and the kind
personnel there informed me that they had in fact been
using Film For Classics as their source for the various
discontinued formats that they sell. Last I knew,
however, they still had a few rolls left of a 116-size
black-and-white emulsion.
Unfortunately for me, it is the 122 size that I have
been seeking in vain. Does anyone know of a CURRENT
source for this venerable old "postcard"-size format
--anywhere on the planet? I should appreciate any
assistance you can provide. Thanks.
