i don't know about the AC adapters. are the plugs the correct size, and the polarity correct?
as for the AA cell voltage, all NiCd and NiMH rechargeable batteries produce 1.2 volts per cell, which of course is somewhat less than the 1.5 that you get from non-rechargeable alkaline cells. that's just the way the chemistry works.
