In Reply to: Olympus OM 10 rewinding film? posted by Jim H. on July 23, 2001 at 19:24:08:
: I'm sorry but this is a rather elementary question/answer I am sure. How do you rewind the film on the OM 10. I lifted the arm and began to what I thought was rewinded, however the shot number counter did not count backwards. I did not continue and was tempted to open back to inspect if film had rewound but didn't for fear of exposure.
: Help! Please!
The Olympus OM10 is different than most 35mm cameras. Most cameras have a little button on the bottom which must be depressed to release the film for rewinding. The Olympus OM10 (and OM-1, OM-2 and OM-G cameras) however, the release has a little dial on the front of the camera at the upper right. Turn this a quarter turn in the direction marked "R", and then you can rewind the film. The rewind crank is on the top left.
I'm not aware of any manual focus 35mm camera that resets the film counter until the film is rewound and the camera back is opened. It should snap to -0- the minute you open the camera.
