: I have recently bought a Praktica B200 with 50mm, 35-70mm, and 70-210mm lenses and I would like to get a flash for the camera. However, I am unsure as to what make/type would be suitable for basic flash photography without costing the earth. I am new to SLR photography, so a lot of the technical jargon is baffling me, but I think I have grasped the basics about aperture and shutter settings, and I know the camera has a hot shoe attachment.
: Any suggestions greatfully received.
The best all around flash for your camera would be a new or used Vivitar 283. Manufactured for more than 20 years, the Vivitar 283 is a powerful flash (Guide Number 110 with ISO 100 film), has a bounce head, four automatic settings and one manual setting. Millions are in use. (I own two of them.)
If you'd like to know more about your camera, visit Mike's Praktica Camera web site http://www.uni-mainz.de/~otto/Praktica/English/Praktica_Home.html He has a page devoted to your model.
