In Reply to: Sony CCD-V8AF Tape Stuck posted by DeDe Palmer on June 05, 2001 at 21:42:06:
: I have an older Sony CCD-V8AF video camera that takes the Video 8 tapes. A tape is stuck in the camcorder and will not open, rewind, or play. Any idea how to get the tape out. Is there any other way to play these tapes? I would like to copy them to my new digital 8 tapes or at least to VCR tapes. Help, all my old tapes are video 8's and I would like to salvage them!
Well, if the tape is stuck, by all means do not try to rewind or run the tape forward. I don't know about 8mm camcorders, but as I recall some VHS camcorders have a small emergency release hole which will open the camcorder door when a straightened paper clip is pushed through the hole. Read your instruction manual. Do a search on the web for video tape transfer services to get your tapes copied to a newer format.
