Do-It-Yourself Digital Camera Repair
Last year the command dial on my Fujifilm S602 digital camera began functioning erratically just a few weeks before going abroad. I called Fujifilm's factory repair facility in British Columbia. A camera repair technician assured me this was a common failure, the replacement part cost less than $5, the labor less than $50. I express mailed my camera to Canada. In less than ten days it was back in my hands, working like new. At my request, Fuji enclosed the bad part and introduced me to today's plug-and-replace camera repair. All three dials on the top right of the S602 were actually one plastic / metal electronic circuit assembly. Unplug the failed part, plug in the replacement, put the camera shell back on.

Video Cameras, Answered Questions
Actual questions asked by camera repair techs to a company which sells diagnostic test equipment to electronic repair technicians. If you completely understand these questions and answers, then possibly you could repair your camcorder but only IF you have the schematic for the equipment. If you don't understand, please have your camcorder repaired professionally. Editors Note: While doing research before buying a miniDV digital camcorder in 2007, the owner of a nationally-known camcorder repair facility advised me that virtually all consumer grade camcorders will require expensive repairs within eight months to three years after purchase. When I bought my Panasonic camcorder, for the first time ever, I bought a 3 year extended warranty.
