Minolta Corporation, Ramsey, New Jersey
Minolta announced a merger with Konica in January 2003. Three years later in January 2006 Konica-Minolta reported they would immediately exit the camera business. Warranty service on SLRs and digital cameras was transferred to Sony. Minolta DiMAGE digital cameras used Secure Digital (SD) and CompactFlash memory cards. Minolta also manufactured APS and 35mm DiMAGE film scanners, light meters, flash meters, compact cameras and 35mm SLRs.
Mustek Inc., Irvine, California
Manufactures the GSmart family of digital cameras, from 640x480 resolution to 1.3 megapixels. Credit card size GSmart Mini model has 2.1 megapixels with software interpolation. One camera takes CompactFlash memory cards, all others have internal memory only. Multi-function digital cameras capture still photos, video and also work as PC web cams. Mustek also makes USB flatbed scanners and LCD projectors.
Nikon Inc., Tokyo, Japan / Melville, New York
Manufacturers of Nikon Coolpix digital cameras. Current consumer models offer 2 to 5 megapixels resolution, up to 8X optical zoom, many more features. Digicams use CompactFlash memory cards and IBM MicroDrive, depending on model. Nikon D1 and D100 pro models offer up to 6.1 megapixels, SLR styling, interchangeable lenses, etc. Nikon also makes digital camera accessories and Coolscan film scanners.
Olympus America Inc., Tokyo, Japan / Melville, New York
Three families of Camedia digital cameras, D-Series for beginners and casual users, C-Series for avid photographers and E-Series for pros and serious amateurs, models range from 2 to 5 megapixels resolution. SmartMedia memory cards, some digicams offer dual card slots for CompactFlash and IBM Microdrive cards. Camera accessories include digital flash units, auxiliary wide-angle, macro and telephoto lenses, photo printers and more.

Polaroid Corporation, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Manufacturers of entry-level PhotoMAX digital cameras, fixed focus, 320x240 to 640x480 resolution with up to two megabytes internal memory. One model takes 2mb SmartMedia cards. Polaroid also makes digital microscope cameras, SprintScan film scanners, ProPalette digital film recorders, and digital photo printers.
Pretec Electronics Corp., Fremont, California
Pretec manufactures entry level digital cameras, 640x480 res up to 1.5 megapixels. Digicams have internal flash memory and optional CompactFlash cards. Pretec also makes SmartMedia cards, memory products, digital camera accessories, card readers, card adapters and more.
Premier Image Technology Corporation, Taiwan, ROC
English and Chinese versions. Founded in 1983, "the leading compact camera manufacturer in the world with approximately 14% of global market share." Ricoh Corporation, Sparks, Nevada
Caplio digital cameras and RDC digital cameras from 2.1 to 4 megapixels and up to 3x optical zoom lenses. Some models use SmartMedia cards, others CompactFlash. Several models are designed unlike any other camera currently available with folding and swiveling color LCD screen.

Samsung makes the stylish Digimax line of digital cameras. Currently offers nine models from 1.3 megapixel to 4 megapixels, some with 3x optical zoom lenses. Most digicams use CompactFlash cards. Other features include video capture, date/time imprinting and voice recording.

Click on 'Presentation Technologies' for info on the Sanyo digital camera. Model IDC-1000ZU is a full-motion VGA Video Disc Camera with 1.5 megapixel stills. 3x optical zoom lens, records Quick-Time movies and animations, 30fps at 640x480 resolution. Uses iD Photo disks for storage.
Sigma Corporation of America, Ronkonkoma, New York
The Sigma SD9 digital SLR camera uses the Foveon X3 chip (3.43 megapixels.) Interchangeable lens digital SLR uses Sigma SA mount autofocus lenses, has a 3:2 aspect ratio identical to the 35mm frame, variable ISO speeds of 100, 200, 400 and many other features. Digital camera accessories include remote control module, dedicated flash, battery grip handle and all Sigma SA mount lenses.

Foxlink Peripherals Inc. markets SiPix digital cameras and USB video webcams in North America and Europe. Low-res digicams and higher resolution cameras up to 2.1 megapixels. Internal memory, SmartMedia and CompactFlash card storage depending on camera. All bundled with photo editing and video software.

Inventors of SmartMedia, Toshiba manufactures 1.3 to 4.2 megapixel digital cameras. Many models to choose from depending on your needs. Some models offer AVI video clip capture, optical zoom lenses, etc. Cameras use SmartMedia memory cards. Umax Technologies Inc., Taiwan / Fremont, California
Does not sell digital cameras in the United States. In the United Kingdom Umax offers two entry-level AstraPix digital cameras, one with 640x480 resolution, the other is a 1.3 megapixel model which accepts CompactFlash memory cards. Umax is best known for their Astra and PowerLook color flatbed scanners and 35mm film scanners. Note: site may crash Netscape.

Vivitar markets ViviCam digital cameras; many entry-level models, advanced digicams range from 2.1 to 3.3 megapixels, offering up to 4x optical zoom lenses. Some cameras have internal flash memory, others use CompactFlash cards, one camera accepts SD (secure digital) or MultiMedia (MMC) cards.
