Is this a "T-mount" lens, in which you can unscrew the mount from the back? If so, and your Minolta mount on the lens does not fit your Maxxum, you have a manual-focus Minolta MC/MD mount. You should be able to buy a Maxxum mount to put on the lens instead so that it will fit your camera. I'd look at www.porters.com for a mount... possibly also edmund scientific, or a local camera store if you have one handy (funny, or sad, these used to be in almost every town and now you can hardly find one any more)
